Festival FAQs
Frequently asked questions about RAJF

What time does the Festival start and finish?

Doors open for the evening events at 7pm, finishing at 11pm prompt. Carriages for 11.15pm.

The Sat afternoon events start at 1pm and finish at 5pm.

Is there any reserved seating?

There is a small amount of seating available, but most people stand.

Standard seats do not provide a clear view of the stage but are ideal for picnics. These can be reserved by clicking on the Click for Discounts and Seating part of the shopping basket.

Can I sit down please?

In addition to the reserved seating we provide a limited number of unreserved chairs and tables. This is because we find that the majority prefer to stand in front of the stage, to dance or to stand while supping. Otherwise. very limited seating is available on a first come, first served basis.

Can I bring my own chairs?

We are sorry but no. It is not practical for guests to bring their own chairs for the event unless registered disabled.

Can I bring my own food and drink? What about picnics?

Picnics are welcome again this year at RAJF. Why not reserve seats (at a table, obviously) and enjoy the evening with friends.

We also offer a wide choice of high-quality foods from around the globe.

Can I bring my own booze in?

No. Alcoholic drinks must NOT be brought in – this is a licensing restriction.

Why do you have a transaction fee?

There is a one-off transaction charge of £3 per transaction, however many tickets you buy. This is used to pay third party service providers who help us with the booking of your tickets and getting them safely into your hands.

If you choose to buy more tickets later, please email info@chichester-rajf.com for a refund of the second fee.

Why don’t you charge VAT?

The supply of RAJF tickets is exempt from VAT due to our status as a sports club.

Consequently we do not charge VAT.

Are you running a bus service this year?

Last year we introduced a bus service to and from the festival.

Unfortunately there wasn’t a great demand for it and so we’ve decided not to operate this service again this year.

How do I contact RAJF?

Either email us at info@chichester-rajf.com or visit our Facebook group!
Tell us what you think. Tell your friends.

Can I bring a large party?

Of course.

If there are more than 10 of you, then you can take advantage of our ’11 for 10′ offer.

Any group of more than twenty will receive special treatment! Email us and we’ll see what we can do to give you and your party a special night to remember! We might even do you a deal.

Are there disabled facilities?

Disabled customers are most welcome and we have a number of disabled regulars. The whole site is wheelchair accessible and there is a disabled toilet just outside the main entrance gate.

When prior notice is given, space and/or seats will be reserved adjacent to main walkways for any ticket holder with a disability. In the event of an emergency, members of the audience with disabilities will receive particular assistance from stewards. Stewards responsible for disabled person evacuation to be made aware of number and position of disabled people each night.

Toilet facilities for visitors with disabilities are provided in the main toilet block. Should it be required, the toilet cleaner will be on site all evening and will carry a RADAR key to open the disabled facility.

May I smoke at RAJF?

Smoking is only permitted in designated smoking areas and in the smoking tent.

When will I receive my tickets?

This year we will be mailing tickets every two weeks starting in early June.

We do not mail tickets in the final weeks before the event. Tickets supplied for any orders received during the final week will be available at the gate. In this case, please bring a copy of your email confirmation or some other identification.

My ticket hasn’t got a stub – is this OK?

In earlier years we sent our customers a ticket with stub attached. Last year we decided that the stub fulfilled no useful purpose, and this year also all you get is a simple ticket. When you arrive at RAJF your ticket will be exchanged for a wristband which, for security purposes, we ask you to wear for the entire evening. You can then come and go as you please.

Can children attend?

On the whole we don’t think that an event involving lots of beer and wine is an ideal place to bring children. Our policy is that children under 12 will not be admitted. Young people between 12 and 18 are welcome provided they are accompanied by a responsible adult. But they must buy a full ticket, must be kept out of the bar area and must not consume any alcohol!

The exception to this are the Saturday afternoons, The Bavarian Beerfest and Jazz in the Park sessions where accompanied children under 12 are encouraged and welcomed. They can join us at the events for FREE!

Can I buy food?

Again this year we will have a comprehensive food village just outside the main tent. We plan to have three or four high quality caterers selling some tasty food to complement the real ale and wine. This will include organic meat items, Thai food and vegetarian choices.

Can you recommend somewhere to stay?

If you click on these links you will get a list of B&Bs in and around Chichester and Chichester hotels.

The George & Dragon and The Ship are only a one minute walk from RAJF. The B&B’s in St Pancras and at the University are only about five minutes walk.

Can I bring my dog?

We regret that we do not permit dogs at our event. It can get crowded and the music is as loud as the local authorities will permit. Dogs might get frightened and they might give rise to health and safety problems.

We will make special arrangements for guide dogs – please contact us to discuss.

How can I get First Aid?

Qualified paramedic staff will provide first aid cover. The first aid station will be situated adjacent to the main ticket gate and will be operational from 7.00pm to 11.00pm.

The nearest Accident and Emergency Hospital is St Richard’s, Chichester situated off Spitalfields Road. 01243 788122.

The first aid personnel will report any incidents to the Admissions Manager at the main entrance. Where identified, remedial action will be taken after an incident to prevent recurrence.
